[Unity] Idol Manager [v1.0.6] [Glitch Pitch]

You take on the role of manager at a small (but growing!) talent agency. As you cultivate and train the newest generation of young pop stars, you’ll have to decide who to hire and who to fire, who gets promoted when things go well and who gets reprimanded when things get sour. The personal lives of these young celebrities are a part of your business, and the life of a pop star isn’t always a happy one.

1. Extract and run.

  • Idols will now slowly drain mental stamina if you pay them below minimum wage (¥20,000 /w, only on normal and unfair difficulties)

  • Fixed: Achievements not unlocking (“Sweeter than vanilla”, “Parfection!”, “Giga-pancake”, “Beating like a hammer”)
  • Fixed: Not getting any “sexy” business proposals
  • Fixed: Final event of Chapter 2 not triggering if the center of your #1 single graduated
  • Fixed: One of the events of Chapter 2 not starting properly (being stuck on the office background)
  • Fixed: Spa tooltip not updating as soon as the value changes
  • Fixed: Theater stats not saving/loading
  • Fixed: Save/load menu and Continue button not working if there’s a corrupted auto save file
  • Fixed: It was possible to set idol salaries so high that they’d start paying you instead
  • Fixed: Removed “buzz” from business proposal tooltips (it used to be a resource in old versions)
  • Fixed: One of the graduation messages showed [date] instead of the actual date
  • Fixed: Song name generator ignored one of the sets of words
  • Fixed: Stylists displaying their max stat lower than it actually is
  • Fixed: Various small fixes in jp and cn localizations

  • Unique idols: You can now set stat value but ignore stat potential and vice versa. The missing value will be generated randomly instead of being 0.
  • Fixed: Custom random event illustrations not working
  • Fixed: Playing with a texture mod then disabling the mod could break the save file
  • Fixed: It was possible to create an event that would trigger itself in a loop, making the save file so large the game would stop launching.

If you can’t find your save file in the game, this probably happened to you.

Check if your save file is bigger than 15mb
    PC – C:Users*username*AppDataLocalLowGlitch PitchIdol Managerdatastory_mode
    MAC – ~/Library/Application Support/Glitch Pitch/Idol Manager/data/story_mode

The file is probably filled with copies of something like the code on the screenshot. You can just delete the repeating code and it should work again. Or you can send me the file ([email protected]) and I’ll see if I can fix it.

v0.21 Beta

Hotfix 1 (added December 31, 2020):

  • Closing the game during some events could remove story mode tasks in your auto save file
  • Some story events didn’t trigger after loading the game from a save file
  • You now need to press F7 five times to unlock cheats and debug menus
  • Fixed various issues with dating (wrong girl showing up to the date / never getting caught or getting caught too easily / broken music in one of the endings)
  • One of the endings could break if you clicked too quickly
  • Various small substory fixes: broken text formatting in a few lines, idol sprites overlapping each other

Hotfix 2 (added January 2, 2021):

  • Ramen cafe dialogue could ignore one of your previous decisions
  • ldol could request to center a specific single and then complain that she was chosen for it
  • Releasing a single with no marketing could cause a bunch of bugs
  • Awards show not starting after a character’s speech
  • Idol showing up with a wrong or empty sprite in the postgame
  • Various small dialogue fixes

Hotfix 3 (added January 5, 2021):

  • One of the tasks in Chapter 4 (“watch all events”) could get stuck in an incomplete state
  • Committee popup in Chapter 5 could break after loading the game from a save file
  • Some story-important idols could be fired at inappropriate times, and some couldn’t be fired even in postgame
  • Couldn’t force idols to stop bullying even if you had enough influence
  • Idols being unreasonably rude after being asked to not graduate
  • You could still get a bankruptcy game over on the relaxed difficulty

Beta v20
Story mode

The game’s story is finally here! When starting a new game, you have the option to play in “story mode” or “free play.”

The “free play” mode functions the same as previous beta builds have acted — the only story events included are the early events with Fujimoto and Rival. (As with previous builds, the “new game” menu has settings that give you the option to skip things like the intro dialog, policies dialog, and so on.) Any save files you have from previous beta versions will exist in “free play” mode. To play in story mode, select “story mode” from the main menu to start a new game.

“Story mode” is the version of Idol Manager that has been our goal from the start: you’ll progress through several “chapters” by completing various criteria, and along the way you’ll make choices that will lead to one of a variety of possible endings. Most of your advancement through the story will be based on the tasks system that was introduced in September’s update. (Not all endings are necessarily good! If you want to have a career that lasts longer than the events of the story, keep that in mind when making important decisions that could affect your career and the future of your group.)

There’s lots of new features and gameplay systems bundled in the new story events, and this is normally the part of the announce post where we’d detail them at length…but we’d prefer not to spoil them and let you discover those moments along the way during your time with the game’s story mode.

When socializing with other adults, you have the option to flirt and potentially explore romantic interest. (Not everyone is receptive to attempts at flirtation, and flirting attempts can easily backfire, so tread lightly!) Spend enough time kindling that romantic interest, and you may be able to spend more time socializing with them outside the office in a variety of venues. Of course, becoming romantically involved with people in the workplace is the kind of thing that has been known to end careers, so be careful…

More events and substories

Even if you don’t play the game’s new story mode, there’s still lots of new story moments for you to encounter during your time with Idol Manager, including conversations that will have effects on gameplay.

The effects can be positive or negative, and there are lots of ways to trigger them, which is all the more reason to be careful with how you’re running your group: if your company’s finances spend too much time in the red, or you have too many explosive scandals, you might have a moment of reckoning…

Other changes
Rival gender

You can now choose the gender of the rival character when starting a new game. (This is now chosen independently of your player character’s gender.)
